3223. Hugh Rolland TAYLOR

Obituary in the Neodesha Derrick, August 12, 1999: Hugh Rolland (Rollie) Taylor II, 37, died Friday, August 6, 1999, in an accidental drowning on Beaver Lake in Bentonville, Arkansas. Memorial graveside services were held Wednesday, August 11, 1999, at 11 a.m. in the Altoona Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Raymond officiating. The son of Hugh Rolland and Marrietta (Tunnell) Taylor, Rollie was born April 25, 1962 in Mountainview, California. He graduated from El Camino High School in Woodland Hills, California and attended the University of Kansas and Southern Missouri University. Rollie lived in Neodesha, Kansas from 1982 until 1985. He was a reporter and photographer for the Neodesha Sun-Register and the Neodesha Post-Dispatch. He became well known for his "Photo by Rollie" by-line. He was also active with the Neodesha Arts Association. On July 18, 1987, he married Tammy Collins, a flight attendant with TWA, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they raised their son Dustin, now 20. He began working for United Airlines in 1986 and worked at airports in Springfield, Missour, Denver, Colorado and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their careers enabled them to enjoy the benefits of traveling all over the world, including several excursions to Japan and Hawaii. Survivors include his wife Tammy of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his son Dustin of Lafayette, Colorado, Cheryl Taylor of Port Washington, Wisconsin; Sandra Taylor Aldern of Ramona, California; and Deborah Taylor Dixon of Neodesha, Kansas. He is also survived by his aunt, Jean Sweeney of Neodesha. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
